Devotion - Chapter one (Thursday, 8 December 2011 / 07:00 / 8 responded)

Juliana slouched in the front seat of her white Porsche car while her hand desperately trying to start the engine. As she puts on drive, she went off to the store to buy some more milk. Slowly, she sigh, listening to the song that was on the radio playing Conor Maynard's 'I love you'. Little did she knew, she was drowning herself in her pit of thoughts, feeling a little edge to the corner as she found out he's not there. Judging by the temperature of the empty bed side right next to her, she's convinced that he had just left since it was still warm.

However, Juliana was too enveloped in her misery a moment there, it took her awhile to realize that she actually took the wrong turn and was heading for the driveway. She pulled back, made a u-turn, and tries to get back on her senses. Heading to the driveway at this time of day isn't really what she's hoping to go through.

Her grip on the steering wheel increased it's pressure. An attempt of trying to ease herself down, she pulled over at a diner. Also, she needed breakfast. And fast. Gorcery can wait. Engine stopped, car keys out, locked the car, she entered the diner. Since its Monday, its not packed like it used to. She took a spot beside the glass window. Somehow, that seat seemed to be unoccupied every time she came here. Not that she's complaining though, it makes her happy.

She put her bag right next to her and waited for the waitress to come while the song coming from the diner's radio soothe her. It wasn't very entertaining really since all they play is the old songs back from the 70s or 80s. 90s on special occasion though which only happened like once a year. Still, music is music. It was still comforting.

All of a sudden, his illusion suddenly appeared in front of her. An image of  him sipping tea with the newspaper at his hand and in a blink of an eye, its gone. Though it seemed so real, she should know that he's still not here with her. He's somewhere out there striving to get a hold oh himself before he could transport back here with her.

Maybe coming her wasn't the brightest idea she had ever had. She knew this place is crawling with memories of him. Still, she's hungry. Like it or not, she might as well just put up with it, fill her hunger and just leave.

"The usual, Miss?" That tone of voice, slightly high pitched and lazy, the waitress. She nodded and added coffee for the drinks. The waitress nodded and head back to the counter to fetch her order.

She unfolded the morning newspaper she bought earlier at Seven Eleven and read it while waiting for her breakfast. Starting from the sports page and onto the universal headlines and domestic news. Before she could turn to the next page, the waitress placed the coffee onto the table with a plate of pancakes with a choice of either maple syrup or honey as a dipping. Also not to forget the two pieces of toast on the side for extra boost. Just in case.

She thanked the waitress and put the newspaper on the side, with that she started to eat. To pass the time, she chewed slowly. Its not like she's catching up to anything so might as well enjoy it while she can. She totally forgot everything about grocery anyway.

Though, it didn't last long as she hoped, her eyes began to take a glimpse of the vacant leather seat in front of her which used to be occupied by him, Byunghun. She put down the knife and fork and swallowed the last bits of her pancake.

In an instance, her world began to felt so hollow. Despite the racking noises coming from the counter that was taking busy taking people's orders and the sound of the customers talking, the atmosphere around her was bitter shut. It would be better if he was around. This was their favorite diner.

Whenever Byunghun didn't get transported to any bizarre places like he used to, he would take Juliana to this diner and just for a brief second, they could spend their time together. Eating toast, taking turns to read the morning news, have a little chat or somewhat. Getting transported this early isn't really what she expected. Waking up knowing that your husband unwillingly vanished and having no clue where he might be is not actually thrilling. Its more depressing than you think.

'I need to get out of here,' she thought.

She munched the last piece of toast that was still on the plate and packed her stuff. After checking so that she doesn't leave anything behind, she took out her purse and headed for the cashier. As she was waiting in the line, someone stopped her.

"Leaving so soon, Juliana?" a familiar voice not too far caught her attention. She tilted her head to the left to where the voice was coming from and was overjoyed to see her best friends standing there waving at her.

Its been a while since the last time I posted a fanfic. So its a bit awkward for me. I regret for any grammar errors or spellings. I'm still awkward. Go easy on me (~*O*)~ still, enjoy!
